Few weeks ago I got a package full of ghouls - most were in "played with" condition, but few were just displayed - like these two:
Getting Ghostly Spectra and Ari from Welcome to Monster High.
I got them used, so no Box photos this time...
Do you also think that this looks just like Spectra saying "And they replaced me with THIS?!" But it seems she more fits into the strategy Mattel adapted, so... whatever. But if you stand them just like this next to each other, Spectra looks more mature and a bit creepier (Spectra always looked creepy, that's why I love her so much!), while Ari looks more cute and deffinitely like a little girl. And a bit like "What? I don't get it." Just like one of my classmates from my elementary school.
So back to Spectra. She is from the Getting Ghostly series of Haunted, where all the monsters were turned into ghosts. But Spectra was always a ghost, but they could not let her look normal (I wonder why), so they made her from opalescent white plastic, instead of solid white with clear hands and feet. Unlike the other ghouls from the series, she does not have that... seriously, I don't know what that is... over her eyes.
Spectra
has, just like her other versions, blue in her eyes, even tho this time the blue is not that vivid. Her irises are blue and gray. She even has gray eyeshadows (not brown like other ghouls and not even even purple like other Spectras). She has dark red lips, silver eyeshadows with blue line and then pink eyeshadows (there are two different variants of this Spectra - american one and european one - this is the european release. The other ghoul has darker and smaller lips, darker and smaller eyes, eyeshadown more violet than gray and she has very little of those pink eyeshadows).
Her hair isn't kanekalon, like other Spectra's releases - she has darker violet saran (mixed with a bit lighter shades) with lighter streaks. About half of her hair is tied up in a ponytail.
Her hair is long up to her hips.
She doesn't have pierced ears, which means she has no earrings.
She wears chains!
It's all in one piece, with two peg buttons at the back.
She has one Skulette in the front part and two at the back.
At the end of the chains, there are balls, and some different locks.
It looks like this.
And Spectra without it looks like this
Her dress is asymetrical, "tattred" at the lower end and with a fishnet at the top (same matherial as Roller Maze Ghouls had).
I am not really sure if this pattern should mean something or not.
Her shoes are chain with locks, just like her chain dress. It's made from really soft and flexible plastic.
And now for Ari.
Asi has a lot lighter hair than Spectra - almost pink. It's a mixture of lavender, fuchsia and light purple. She has them loose with twolittle twistbraids on each side, connected at the back. It's ab bit shorter than Spectra's.
Even her face is more pink and more sweet and cute.
She has really light eyeshadow. The same light pink-violet she has on her eyeshadows. Her lower eyelashes are gray. Her eyes wr grayish piunk with ligh violet. The whites of her eyes are actually white. Her lips ar magenta and she has a light blush on her cheeks. How can a ghost get a blush?! I hate the blush they did on all the new ghouls - it looks fine on Draculaura and Cleo (even tho I don't like it at all), but it looks totally horrible on all the "non-human-colored" ghouls - the worst case is Frankie, I think. She looks like a drowned girl witha ton of makeup. I mean, she can't get a red blush if she is green, right?
Ari's eyes are really round and they are (or at least it appears to me) that they are too close to each other (and this one in particular hos one positioned too much higher thant the other one, and both are too left).
From all the ghostly accessories Spectra always had (like chains, shackles, locks, keys, balls... ) she got only a belt with a little chains, which looks jusst like a fashion accessory, not like a ghost's chain. The belt has a trble cleff and some notes on it. It is from a soft plastic andit has a button peg at the back.
The dress without it looks like this.
The dress is quite simple, but it looks really good, I think. The skirt is longer on one side and it has a black tulle ruffle at the end. The pattern of the dress are staves and chains. Really pretty! It also has a darker violet ruffle/collar with black stripes, which looks like a piano keyboard. But it has no seams at the end, so it is already running at the back and on one side. Sigh.
Even thos this actually is her basic edition, she has almost no accessories (she had a purse, but I didn't get it, but I didn't like it, so who cares). She has just a simple bracelet. Her ears are not pierced, so she has no earrings. This bracelet looks quite simple (I am not sure, but isn't it recycled from one of the Sweet Scream ghousl?)
In the same color, she had her handbag. And the same goes for her shoes (which would look way more better if Mattel painted at least some of the details).
Of course I had to make some comparison posts. So... they do not share the same skin tone. Ari is more white, but their hands and forearms are of the same color... which makes it a bit weird on Ari.
When I was undressing them, I realised that Ari has the new type of pegs - which are totally meant to break as soon as possible (I don't see any other reason for a hole in this part of a doll).
And this one has bad hip joints as well. Meh.
So, what to say? Spectra was one of my fave ghouls, I loved the ghostly looks she had in her blue eyes, which made her totally unlike any other ghoul. And those cheekbones! I will totally miss her. And Ari... she is totally "normal". Nothing unique about her. Just sweet and cute like any other new ghoul. But she could be a good ghoul to get in my collection, if she wasn't 1/ THAT expensive 2/ THAT deffective

Monster High Electrified Silvi Timberwolf (EN)
In the new Electrified movie appeared a new character: Silvi Timberwolf.
Silvi is a post-reboot doll, so in the box you can't find anything beside the doll herself - no stand, no brush, no diary and not even a purse. Not even a electric guitar (even tho that Silvi love those and that in the movie for the few seconds when you can see her "electrified" version - and it's really just a flash - she is playing the guitar). Considering the fact that in shops she is sold for more than € 27 / $ 32, this is pretty bad. And I still haven't mention the quality issues.
Silvi is a grey wolf
She has blue eyes with pink marks, vivid blue eyeshadows with magenta line, pink lips (with fangs) and her lower eyelashes are also pink (her upper ones are black, but mine has them a bit blurred). Unlike the other released werewolfs, Silvi has her nose painted in dark gray (mine has it pretty bad!) and even her eyebrows are gray. Wow!
Her hair is mostle light blue and crimped. They are made from nylon, which means they stay in the shape - but even if you don't want to. Here is how they look when removed from the box - and it has been several days since then and they are still the same.
She has a parting on side and has a part of her hair tied under her right ear (and ssewn to the head).
The section of her hair is badly trimmed, as well as the rest of her hair (I fixed it before I took photos)
The rest of her hair is tied into a ponytail - and she has a magenta and neon green streak in her hair.
Around her ponytail she has a black hair ornament. Besides her earrings (asnd the weird collar-thing) this is her only accessory. Sad. The ornament is held in place with a clar rubberband.
Her earrings ar made from semi-transparent neon-magenta plastic and they have some crescents. Unlike the rest of the released werewolfs Silvi's ears are "fluffy". But her ears are pierced in the same bad way as the other dolls' - there is the excess of plastic at the back side of the ear, whcih you have to cut off.
Silvi is wearing a one piece dress (it may look like two separate pieces, but it's sewed together) and over it she has a big plastic collar-thing.
The collar is made from the same plastic as her earrings, same color. It has a peg at the back, so it should be buttoned, but it wasn't in the box and even I couldn't do it. But I don't like it anyway, so I don't really mind. Maybe it would look good on some other doll, but I still haven't found her.
And here is Silvi without that thing
As I have already stated, her dress is a one piece.
The lower part is black "satin" with pink, yellow and blue wolfs. And for some reason, there is a bear (leftmost yellow creature in the pic).
The skirt is asymetrical and has a yellow plastic ruffle at the lower edge.
Over the dress Silvi has a vivid blue tattered jacket/vest
At the back you can clearly see how are the things stitched together.
She wears sandals from a semi-transparent neon-yellow plastic.
The shoes has heels in shape of crescents.
Just like the post-reboot Clawdeen, Silvi has fur around her ankles
and wrists.
So to put it simply: This is pretty lame for the price they want for her. And for the poor quality. If she weren't on sale, I would deffinitely bought her - even tho I really wanted her from the first time I saw her promo pic. But there is nothing in the box to compensate for that silly price. Oh, yeah, she IS articulated... but... weren't the non-articulated doll made so that they could be cheaper? Not for the non-articulated ones to be for the price for the articulated and the new articulated ones to be about 20% more expensive than before and have nothing with them?!Moreover, the QC is pretty bad. If there even was any. This one was the only one at the shop, so I could not choose another one for this price, but overall I have seen about 8 of her and from those only one was like "Oh, I wouldn't mind having that one", but even that one was not perfect. Meh.
Moreover, I kinda think that her "electrified" version is a bit "too much" color-wise. I would totally loved more her "normal" version (with dark blue and light blue hair) [this pic I stole from the movie]
And I think she is the type for darker colors (her dress in her original form is black with pink and blue wolves, with pink jacket and black shoes). So here are two pics of my Silver in something less vibrant and more dark.
In set from Coffin Bean Draculaura
And in a dress from Inner Monster Add On pack
